Fingerless Mitts

P1000342

My latest knitting project is a pair of fingerless mitts. I wanted a pair of these so I could use my phone and still keep my hands relatively warm while outside. They’ll also be good for driving. I used the pattern “Peekaboo Mitts“ that I found on Ravelry. I used the same yarn that I used for my hat. How coordinated I am.

I know you can only see one mitt in these pictures, but I swear I made two. It’s a trick to wear them and take pictures of both of them simultaneously. I need a third arm. But then I would have to make three mitts instead of two… never mind.

My First Knitting Project

This hat is the first and only knitting project I’ve finished so far. Well, technically it’s my second. I made another hat before this one, but it didn’t turn out quite right, so I don’t count it.

It’s a hat, plain and simple, knit on DPNs with K1,P1 ribbing and stockinette stitch. I made it a little long so it would slouch a bit.  I wasn’t using a pattern, so my friend helped me with decreasing.

Maybe someday I will tell you about my first hat. But for now, don’t ask…

Book Cover

I have an old hardback book that was missing a dust cover. It was an ugly yellow color and I didn’t like looking at it, so I came up with this book cover.

  • Get the dimensions of the outside of the book to start.
  • Add about 1/2 of the width of each book flap to the overall width. (This is to fold inside the book to keep in place. If your paper isn’t wide enough, just use a coordinating piece of paper and tape it to the larger piece)
  • Tape or glue a card to the front on which to write the book title & name of the author.

Make a matching bookmark with the scraps.

By the way, this book – Hidden Art, by Edith Schaeffer – (later republished as The Hidden Art of Homemaking) is a really good book!

Wall Art Collage

This collage is easy to put together and makes inexpensive  wall art.

It’s so easy and looks really cool. All you need is patterned paper (wallpaper scraps, wrapping paper, scrapbook paper, etc.) and a collage frame.

The one I made is black & white, but this would be really pretty in color too. You could even use solid colors. Anyway, it’s fun and easy too make and it looks great!

Flower Coaster

I designed this coaster one day when I was bored.
